Kingsport, Tennessee, USA: November 5, 2019 – Eastman Performance Films, LLC (Eastman) is excited to officially unveil a revolution in automotive film technology: Core by Eastman Performance Films, LLC. Core is a patent-pending, analytics-based software platform that goes beyond cutting software to support business operations, integrating desktop and mobile access for remarkable user freedom.
“Core is a reinvention of film-cutting software,” says Darrell Reed, commercial director for Eastman. “Industry-leading capabilities offered by Core were created by Eastman in response to needs from our customers. The result is a solution able to open up flexibility and connectivity far beyond anything previously offered in the marketplace.”
Core is a modern, intuitive experience that offers a verified pattern process to deliver more accuracy and efficiency than ever before. It also serves as an entry point to a much broader global network, connecting businesses, industry peers, and Eastman specialists all in one place to improve productivity and knowledge sharing.
Software developers involved dealers of paint protection film and window tint at multiple phases of Core software creation. Thousands of hours were invested to conduct testing and gather feedback around top features. The result is software that lives up to its name. Core centralizes and simplifies all the moving parts of business, putting Eastman customer needs first by assisting installers with work and dealers with oversight.
Both installers and dealers will appreciate the Core mobile app’s time-saving VIN scan function, able to instantly identify and look up patterns for a vehicle’s make, model and year. The app will display a mobile weeding table, view tack points, take installation photos, and send order details to the desktop for cutting. Desktop displays will feature Core’s innovative approach to cutboards and saved edits, schedules to improve workflow, and much more.
Core is compatible with Eastman automotive film brands LLumar® and SunTek® for the initial North America launch. Dealers currently using PrecisionCut® and TruCut™ systems can expect support in transitioning to the expanded features and mobile device connectivity offered by Core. Customer needs are built into Core software and its future development; a dedicated team of experts will continually collect input and launch enhancements.
Core 1.0 launch is planned for spring of 2020, beginning in North America, with intended expansion to other geographies, V-KOOL® and other Eastman brands in the future. Attendees of the 2019 SEMA show (Specialty Equipment Market Association) are invited to visit Eastman booth #12117 to learn more. Those not attending SEMA can visit www.morewithcore.com to sign up for launch and learn more.
Core software creation is an important step in a plan to invest in digital products throughout the Eastman portfolio of businesses. Eastman’s launch of this software represents commitment to the kind of deep, integrated support that’s essential to customer success and extends past physical goods.
“Digital products like Core represent an important opportunity to help our customers win,” said Aldo Noseda, Eastman VP and Chief Information Officer. “I am excited about the combination of our digital capabilities and our unique market and application knowledge in delivering differentiated, specialty solutions.”

Saint Louis, Missouri, USA: May 16, 2019 - Eastman Performance Films, LLC announced today an investment in leading edge, 3D scanning technology for paint protection film patterns. This next-generation enhancement will transform the process of pattern development at Eastman, realizing previously unattainable levels of speed and accuracy with this innovative technique.
Without ever having to touch the surface of a vehicle, this innovative 3D scanning technology employs lasers to capture the shape of any vehicle as flexible data that is quickly converted into a 2D template. Yancy Farrow, New Product Development & Technology Service Manager at Eastman, describes the advantages of integrating 3D scanning technology into pattern-making this way:
“The equipment is accurate within 7-8 Microns in 3-dimensional space. To put that into perspective, the average diameter of a human hair is 75 Microns. This level of precision helps ensure that the patterns we design, across the globe, are among the best fitting patterns from any manufacturer or marketer of paint protection film.”
This latest advance is a continuation of Eastman’s commitment to developing a world-class paint protection film offering for our customers, through ever-evolving support of the LLumar®, SunTek® and V-Kool® brands. Eastman recognizes that high-quality paint protection films, installation support, patterns and cutting software are critical components of dealer success and consumer satisfaction.
Additional investments made to further channel partners’ success include an October 2017 launch of Eastman’s Pattern and Software Design Center; and the March 2018 completion of a state-of-the-art urethane extrusion line at Eastman’s plant in Martinsville, Virginia. The expansion of Eastman’s worldwide footprint of state-of-the-art installation training centers continues as well, with the addition of locations in Houston, TX, Dania Beach, FL, Toronto, Canada and Shanghai, China since late-2018, bringing the total number of global centers to nine.

Kingsport, Tennessee, USA – March 14, 2019 – Eastman Performance Films, LLC, is proud to announce its latest innovation with higher impact-resistant film offerings added to its robust paint protection film (PPF) product portfolio, under the LLumar® and SunTek® brands. This innovation will offer the highest level of impact resistance in clear, self-healing paint protection films available in the market, using advanced film technologies and Eastman’s proprietary hydrophobic top coats. The new offerings are approximately 50% thicker and provide stronger protection for heavier impact areas than current LLumar and SunTek standard PPF, and will be rolled out to dealers throughout the U.S. and Canada in late spring 2019.
"Our latest innovation provides increased depth and breadth in an already comprehensive PPF portfolio,” says Darrell Reed, commercial director for Eastman. “Our dealers who’ve installed and tested this new product see great value in the product benefits for their customers. They also see the market differentiation it provides them in this competitive category. They’re very excited to begin offering this higher impact choice to their customers.”
This new technology for PPF was created to provide more protection for tougher environments. It’s for the more adventurous driver – one who goes off-road or on race tracks, as well as for the car owner who lives in an area with harsher weather and tougher driving conditions. It’s also ideal for vehicle areas that take the most abuse and are more prone to chips during everyday driving: rocker panels, hoods and bumpers. These new LLumar and SunTek offerings are backed by a manufacturer’s 10-year limited warranty.
Eastman continues making investments in innovation, in products as well as services, to quickly respond to the evolving needs of installers and vehicle owners around the world.

Kingsport, Tennessee, USA – March 1, 2019 – Starting today, SunTek® is the official paint protection film for Porsche Club of America (PCA) Club Racing. This new designation is the result of a recently finalized sponsorship between Porsche Club of America and Eastman Performance Films, LLC, a subsidiary of Eastman Chemical Company. Eastman is proud of this connection between their technologically advanced paint protection film brand SunTek and PCA Club Racing. This Porsche Club of America program offers racing, rallies, autocrosses and more, to passionate Porsche owners across Canada and the U.S.
“We are honored that Porsche Club of America believes in the quality of SunTek strongly enough to add it to their family of sponsors,” said Darrell Reed, commercial director, Eastman Performance Films. “Racing and other track events can be a threat to the beauty and integrity of a Porsche’s finish, and SunTek aligns with members’ desires to enjoy the thrill of the track while protecting their Porsche.”
SunTek® paint protection film is a self-healing, virtually invisible layer of defense against rocks, sand, salt, insects, and other road debris. SunTek recently introduced the 72” PPF, which is able to seamlessly cover oversized hoods found in models such as the Porsche Macan. Seamless coverage is an advantage over pieced-together hood coverage, because seams can become visible over time as they collect dirt and wax buildup. Seamless coverage also improves the integrity of PPF installation by reducing chances of the film lifting at the seams.
SunTek paint protection film will be featured at key PCA programs in 2019, including Porsche Parade in Boca Raton, FL on July 21-27 and Werks Reunion in Monterey, CA on August 16. The brand will also be featured in club publications throughout the year. This presence at PCA events and communications gives club members the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of SunTek PPF, driving more Porsche owners to SunTek dealers across North America.

Kingsport, Tenn., USA – January 25, 2019 – Eastman Performance Films, LLC, a subsidiary of Eastman Chemical Company, is proud to announce that paint protection film dealers can now place orders for SunTek® PPF Ultra in a new 72” width. This first-to-market product generated industry buzz when featured in installation demonstrations at both the SEMA 2018 Show and the recent Barrett-Jackson® Car Show and Auction in Scottsdale, Az. It is now available for purchase throughout the U.S. and Canada.
"This latest product launch demonstrates our ongoing investment in paint protection film, software and pattern innovation,” says Darrell Reed, commercial director for Eastman. “The initial response from the market has been phenomenal. We look forward to bringing more innovations to our dealers in the near future, so stay tuned.”
SunTek’s highly anticipated, premium product launch eliminates the seams that were once unavoidable when installing standard 60” PPF on the oversized hoods of many vehicles such as the Porsche® Macan, the Jaguar® F-Type and the BMW® 7 Series. SunTek 72” PPF Ultra is a natural choice for uncompromising installers and an ideal expansion for SunTek’s best-in-class PPF Ultra line.
